The Volkswagen Golf has had an eventful 42-year history in the United States. Introduced in 1975 as a Beetle replacement, the renamed-for-the-US VW Rabbit was a front-wheel drive compact German-made hatchback. It was offered at around the same price as its Japanese competition.

The recent reveal of the Toyota FT-4X Concept at the 2017 New York International Auto Show is significant. Like many show cars, the FT-4X is cool and imaginative, with several far-out features that could never make it to production.

Genesis unveiled its GV80 Concept SUV at the 2017 New York International Auto Show. The GV80 represents several important statements of intent from Hyundai’s recently launched luxury brand. It sets out a design direction for the brand, it is the first Genesis SUV, and it shows Genesis’ thinking on future alternative power sources.

Buick. It’s a name rich in automotive heritage. Founded in 1899, Buick is the oldest American automotive brand still in existence. Buick received a patent for the first overhead valve engine in 1904. It was the first company to become part of General Motors in 1908, a year in which Buick outsold all other brands in the US, even Ford.
